Community@Work: Connection, Communication and Collaboration in the New Economy

Exchange · 4:30-5:30
Lisa Dennis, President of Knowledgence Associates, and co-ordinator of the Boston Cell of “Company of Friends” will lead an interactive session using an example of local community building, and how that applies to organizational growth.

HEATH ROW, SOCIAL CAPITALIST
Heath Row, “social capitalist” for Fast Company magazine, will analyze the Company of Friends – Fast Company’s readers network, as a case study reflecting an emerging model for companies, professional associations, and learning networks. He will share what Fast Company – and the Company of Friends 38,000 members – has learned from the global, self-organizing, and skills-oriented network’s activities since 1997. These lessons will offer ideas and practices for improving teamwork in the workplace, participating in new business support networks, and furthering connections among colleagues – as well as ties to a business’ surrounding community. As part of the talk, Heath will also offer examples of how individual businesses are applying some of these concepts to improve corporate culture, competitive advantage, and productivity.
