Career Options as an Independent Professional
Or Free Agent

Date and Time:  Tuesday, October 30, 2001, 12:00 – 2:00 P.M.

Location: The Commons, Adamian Academic Center, Bentley College, 175 Forest Street, Waltham, MA

Sponsors: Bentley College Center for Entrepreneurship, Graduate Student Marketing Organization, and the Office of Career Services

Purpose: To introduce students to the concept of “Free Agents” as coined by Fast Company; introduce them to professionals who are building their careers in this manner; and weigh some of the pros and cons of this career option, particularly for students who are just beginning their careers. Secondarily, to relate Free Agency to the belief of the College’s Entrepreneurial Studies Program that in order to be successful in any career option, one needs the “mindset of an entrepreneur and the skills of a choreographer.” Free agents demonstrate that and this is taught in the entrepreneurship course open to undergraduate juniors and seniors and all graduate students.

Audience: Bentley graduate and undergraduate student population

Panelists:

Lisa Dennis, President, Knowledgence Associates and coordinator, Fast Company’s Company of Friends Boston cell

Jon Aram, President, Responsible World, Inc.
